Monitoring of arrival and departure timings of government busses in bus stops-store the arrival timings in SD/MMC card

Abstract:

In present bus transportation system we need one person in each bus station  to enter the data of busses arrivals timings and the driver or conductor has to get down the bus to enter the timings for confirmation but this is a time consuming process and needs lot of man power to implement in many bus stops. And sometimes some busses will not stop in particular stops even though they have to stop because of this passengers have to face problem especially in the night time. To make this process fast, automatic and to reduce manpower and also to avoid missing stops we are implementing this project.

This can be achieved easily with help of advancement in technologies. Now a day’s so many technologies are coming out to make our lives more comfort, user-friendly and secure. This is a complete stand alone attendance system in which we store all busses arrival timings with time and date in excel file which will be created on SD card using LPC2148 micro controller.

RFID is an acronym for Radio Frequency Identification. RFID is one member in the family of Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) technologies and is a fast and reliable means of identifying just about any material object. This project can be applied in real time applications such as recording the attendance. This system can be used in big companies, industries, colleges, schools, etc where the attendance recording has to be maintained. This system helps us in recording the attendance of a person easily within fraction of seconds. Primarily, the two main components involved in a Radio Frequency Identification system are the Transponder (tags that are attached to the object) and the Interrogator (RFID reader). Communication between the RFID reader and tags occurs wirelessly.

In this project one unique RFID card is attached to each bus. Whenever bus reaches particular bus stop, this card transmit its number to RFID reader and this data will be given to micro controller to record the bus data with timings.

The advantage of SD memory card is we can store more data, the storage range is in Giga Bytes and the read and write cycles are more, fast and we can create files in suitable formats. The communication between SD card and our controller is established using SPI communication. And the advantage of using LPC2148 micro controller is it has two inbuilt SPI serial interfaces and can communicate with high speed as it is 32 bit controller.
